2013 TROG Shirt design

I had a recce in the BH this morning and marked out the work area roughly. From the photos it looks like it needs more sweep in the bend to steer you away from the tree more, rather than cutting the line as I thought.

I hadn't realised how bad it was down there as I normally don't go in there when it's wet . I think we may need 2 trailer loads. The good news is there there's not too much to dig out at the bottom of the slope as the tyres have dug down about the right just needs squaring off and tidying.

I also checked the pile at Rendlesham, and there's enough left for Sunday but not much more. I think it's time to get a couple of loads delivered to Tunstall as we did for the drainage stone. I will find out from the FC what we are allowed to import to the forest and get it priced-up.

If we get a good enough turn-out, we could add a short spur into the work to take the other entry point in(RH side in pictures).

With the winter racing season now under way it was time to start the Thetford Winter Series, with the first race over Brandon – Fireroad 6.

This is always a fun place to ride, with flat fast flowing singletrack and the odd incline to test out the lungs and leg muscles.

With the mild weather of late, the race filled up fast and TROG were very well represented, with 17 members racing, including 2 race virgins – Debbie and Tony (Forest).

The rain had threatened but it stayed dry and not too cold !!  Some excellent results were achieved by all, with a 1st place from Lewis Parker in the Junior category – that boy is fast !!!

From the comments received after the race, it seemed everyone had fun.

“That was definitely the best Thetford race I've done so far, excellent course and most importantly it somehow stayed dry” – MrGreedy

“Brilliant race today with superb conditions, this has to be one of my most enjoyable races so far!!” – Libtech

“Despite some pretty serious nerves, I really enjoyed my first race” - Debbie

“Ground, dry; Company, good; Position, happy with” – Ecnarfi

“That was the best Winter Series race I have had in YEARS! Not bothered what the result is....I just bloody enjoyed every minute of it. Happy days!” - Tesla
